T-Dot Pioneers: 30 Years of Canadian Hip Hop History and Culture Opening Reception and Brodcast: Thursday, March 4th, 7:00pm-12:00am Location: 1277 Bloor Street, near Lansdowne "Tdot Pioneers is a collaborative project that explores the key elements of Toronto hip hop culture and aims to begin a conversation around historical moments in Toronto hip hop culture. Toronto's hip hop culture has a rich background that very few people know, as it was an integral testing ground for new material from hip hop legends like Afrika Bambatta, Grandmaster Flash, RUN DMC, and even DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresdh Prince." Mark Campbell (AKA DJ Grumps), Project Coordinator and host of Bigger Than Hip Hop CHRY will be live on location for this unique exhibit, featuring the performances and stories of numerous members of the Hip Hop community in Toronto. The story of Hip Hop in Toronto is also a part of the story of community radio in this city, and CHRY is proud to participate in the opening reception for the exhibit. Programmers from Bigger than Hip Hop and Sound Junction will be hosting live on location from the Toronto Free Gallery. We will also be catching performances from Kamau and Thrust, with DJ DTS, DJ O-nonoymus and DJ Great Scott. CHRY's 24 Hour Haiti Info-thon is underway! Tune in to CHRY until tomorrow morning (Friday, February 12th at 10:00am) for continuous coverage as we explore Haitian music and culture, and provide a critical view of Canadian and Foreign policy towards Haiti. CHRY hosts come together to look at the life and music of Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley. Tune in for programming that explores Marley's iunfluences, and impact on music and culture with special guests throughout the day.
African Heritage Family Evening: Tuesday, February 9th Starting at 6:00pm
CHRY will be be on site at Elms Junior Middle School to recognize the successes and initiatives of the school. Guest speakers will discuss African history and culture, with a showcase of student accomplishments. The event will be rebroadcast on CHRY.
24 Hour Haiti Info-thon: Thursday, February 11th Starting at 10:00am
CHRY supports the People of Haiti! We will be presenting a 24 hour info-thon that will explore the history, people, culture and resilience of Haiti. Through music and spoken content we will providean in depth discussion of the history and reality of Haiti, as CHRY deconstructs the role of international aid following the earthquake of January 12th. During the broadcast we will be providing our listeners with various agencies and resources that they can draw upon to support Haitians.
An Evening of Afrobeat: Tuesday, February 16th 6:00pm-4:00am
CHRY programmers bring 10 hours of Afrobeat music - from the early roots of Nigerian and Ghanian highlife, to contemporary Afrobeat, with an extended discussion of the life and lyrics of Fela Kuti.
Hip Hop Special: Thursday, February 18th: 6:00pm-2:00am
The programmers of Toronto Morning Live, Sound Junction, Bigger Than Hip Hop will provide an evening of programming focused on the world of Hip Hop, with focused features on the history of Toronto Hip Hop in the 1980s, Contemporary Canadian Hip Hop, Women in Hip Hop, and African Hip Hop.
Calypso Special: Tuesday, February 23rd 2:00-6:00pm
The hosts of My Data Bag and News Now Tuesday look at the history of Calypso, and highlight the works of modern Calypsonians.

Natasha Waterman Live on CHRY 105.5 FM Monday, February 1st at 3:00pm
Natasha's love for music began early in her life, and by age 11 she was writing and singing her own music. Years later, her career as an independent artist extends into many facets of the music industry. As a singer and a songwriter her songs have been inlcuded in film, television, and have been performed by countless musicians.
Natasha recently celebrated the release of her album, Long Road, which showcases her soulful voice and ability to adapt to many genres. Billy the Kid Live on CHRY 105.5 FM Wednesday, February 24th at 11:00am
Music. Billy was in it for the long haul before she even knew it. Singer-songwriter Billy the Kid started playing in bands by age 14, and found that writing music and learning new instruments came naturally. She eventually started her own label that she sustains with a collective of collabrative musical friends. Writing, recording, booking and performing are now constant in Billy's life. Billy is currently touring through the Prairies and Central Canada, and will end up in Toronto in late February. She will grace the CHRY airwaves with her words and music.
