Calypso Monarch Competition 2009

For the third year in a row, CHRY was broadcasting live from the Calypso Monarch Finals, only this time it took place in the Ontario Science Centre.

CHRY was excited to be back at the Driftwood Community Festival on June 20th, 2009.  It was a rainy day, but that did not dampen the spirits of the community members and the countless volunteers who made the day possible.

  Jamaican Independence Day 2009
The Community of United Jamaicans at York celebrated the 47th anniversary of Jamaican Independence on August 6th, 2009.  CHRY personalities were on hand, and the event was rebroadcast the following day.

  Marcus Garvey Tribute
On Monday, August 17th, 2009, the programmers of CHRY took part in an 11 hour broadcast to honour the life, work and legacy of Pan-Africanist Marcus Mosian Garvey.
May 1st Movement Remote Broadcast
On May 1st, 2009 CHRY joined other grass roots organizations in Toronto to unite for the rights of workers, migrants and marginalized communities in our city. 
  MAY DAY 2010
Following a rally and march through St. Clair West, Vaughan and Oakwood, the community gathered to celebrate International Workers Day at Wychwood Barns.

  Musicworks Launch Party
Musicworks is a magazine for curious years.   For 30 years this non-profit magazine has introduced readers to new and experimental music.  CHRY joined the magazine for their launch party for issue #104 at the Tranzac.

  York Eglinton International Street Festival 2009
CHRY was broadcasting from the festival on Saturday, August 15th,2009.  We were streetside for the event and got to interact with the community.
York University Performances
CHRY is getting involved with many of the performances that happen at the Accolade building.
